Eurobus Travel
Whether you are changing career with your car licence or converting from lorries: EUROBUS trains you in Arbon, Bassersdorf, Biel/Bienne and Ruswil to become a bus driver in categories D and D1. You choose the training route that suits your experience and your schedule.
With category D and the CZV (Swiss driver qualification ordinance) certificate of competence, you work as a bus or coach driver on scheduled bus and coach services. Training for subcategory D1 prepares you for work as a school bus driver. The EUROBUS Training and Further Education Centre trains you at its four driving school locations: in Arbon, Bassersdorf, Biel/Bienne and Ruswil.
Request a quote: via the quote request form for category D/D1 driver training, by telephone on +41 44 444 16 04 or by email to weiterbildung@eurobus.ch. Find out more first: at the free information evening on the intensive training.
Full-time driver training from category B to category D: after four weeks, you take the category D exam. Plan the four weeks entirely for the training, as working alongside it is not possible during this time. Flat-rate price CHF 12,500. All the details are on the page Intensive training.
For people with a demanding job: you complete all your driving lessons and the exam within two weeks, provided the schedule works for you and the driving instructors. You arrange the dates for the driving lessons directly with your instructor.
Do you drive lorries and want to transport people instead of goods in future? The training is tailored individually to your previous experience, and you arrange the dates one by one.
Save on compulsory lessons: the compulsory lessons are waived if you can show that you have driven a lorry for more than 500 hours in the last two years. For this, your employer completes the relevant application form of your canton’s road traffic office.
Drive alongside your studies, with flexible working hours: EUROBUS trains students to become part-time bus drivers on scheduled services. EUROBUS advances 50 per cent of the training costs and guarantees a job at a EUROBUS company near you once you have successfully completed the training. Before the training, there is a personal introduction, the learner’s permit, the category D theory test and payment of 50 per cent of the course fees. Flat-rate price CHF 12,500.
Training for subcategory D1 prepares you for work as a school bus driver. EUROBUS does not guarantee direct employment after the training, but it does improve your chances of getting started.
Already hold category C? Then you do not need to take a driving test for D1: subcategory D1 can be entered on your licence on application to the road traffic office. All you need is the CZV certificate.
You apply for the learner’s permit at the road traffic office in your place of residence. You do not need to complete the eyesight test on the application, as it takes place at the medical examination. You will receive the invitation to this examination from the road traffic office. It is quicker if you arrange the examination in advance with a level 2 doctor (search by location: medtraffic.ch). Allow around three weeks for the whole process and apply for the learner’s permit early.
For all training routes, you pay the following separately:
The training cannot be paid for in instalments: the full cost must be paid before the training starts. Participants are responsible for financing the training themselves.
