Advent in the Black Forest

Travel to the Black Forest capital of Freiburg im Breisgau. Use your free time for a shopping trip or a stroll through the Christmas markets spread across various squares in the historic old town. In the late afternoon, continue to Breitnau. Check in at the traditional Hofgut Sternen, which lies right at the entrance to the Ravenna Gorge. With 40 stalls, the Christmas market is manageable in size, but it impresses above all with its spectacular setting.

(Optional excursion) Today you embark on a tour through the Black Forest. You visit the Dorotheenhütte, a Black Forest glassworks, with a fascinating range of mouth-blown and hand-decorated Christmas baubles. Lunch stop in Offenburg, then free time to visit the Christmas market. In the course of the afternoon, you reach Gengenbach, home of the world's largest Advent calendar house. At 6pm, you must not miss the traditional window-opening ceremony. Bright lights sweep across the magnificent 200-year-old town hall façade until a window of the Advent calendar town hall opens and the entire town hall shines in its splendid glory. Return journey and later arrival at the hotel.

After breakfast, you travel to the neighbouring Alsace region in France. The highlight of this Advent trip is Colmar with its fairytale Christmas markets. Let yourself be enchanted by the festively decorated half-timbered houses and discover Alsatian traditions. Return journey to Switzerland.
