(Optional excursion) Travel to Dresden.

Our local, expert tour guide will proudly show you the city's highlights. The rest of the day is yours to stroll through the Striezelmarkt. Return by coach to Neukirchen.

Day 3: Fichtelberg - Lichtelfest

In the morning, enjoy a journey on the Fichtelberg Railway from Cranzahl through the scenic landscape, past charming Ore Mountain houses, up to Germany's highest-lying town, the spa resort of Oberwiesenthal. The steam-operated narrow-gauge railway climbs a height difference of 238 m on a track gauge of 750 mm. Stop for lunch. In the afternoon, continue to the Lichtelfest in Schneeberg. Miners of the past seldom saw daylight in winter. They therefore placed carved miner figures holding a candle in their windows. This light was meant to bring them safely home. To this day, the custom of placing miners and angels in windows continues in the Ore Mountains. For many, light was and still is a symbol of life, and it was carefully guarded by the miners.

Day 4: Freiberg - Seiffen

In the morning, visit the silver town of Freiberg and see the cathedral with its famous Silbermann organ. Continue through the picturesque Ore Mountains to the fairytale-decorated toy village of Seiffen. How about a visit to the Ore Mountain Toy Museum? Watch the craftsmen create smoking men (Räuchermann) and nutcrackers up close. Afterwards, return to Neukirchen.
