Day 1: Switzerland - Düsseldorf
Journey via Basel to Düsseldorf. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Concert with André Rieu
Enjoy the rich breakfast buffet at your leisure before heading towards Maastricht around midday. On arrival in Maastricht, you have the option of joining a guided city walk (optional). Alternatively, stroll through Maastricht's old town on your own, perhaps visit one of the cathedrals or relax over a cup of coffee in one of the charming little cafés. Even after the city tour, you will still have plenty of time to explore on your own. Then the highlight of your trip awaits: André Rieu, surrounded by his Johann Strauss Orchestra, will give his all at the Vrijthof. Few other violinists can enthral such a broad audience and fill large concert halls as he does.
Day 3: Cologne
(Optional) Journey to Cologne at midday. Discover the art, university and media city of Cologne with a tour guide. The city's landmark is Cologne Cathedral. The old town of Cologne captivates with its historic charm. Small, rustic lanes lead past traditional old houses. The countless brewhouses, pubs and restaurants invite you to linger. After the city sightseeing, you have free time at your disposal.
Day 4: Düsseldorf - Switzerland
Return journey to your drop-off points in Switzerland.
André Rieu and his concerts
Even as a child, André Rieu was enormously fascinated by the world of music. His father was a conductor, and he still remembers the powerful sound of the orchestra and the many bows that all moved in the same direction at once. However, he was puzzled by the subdued atmosphere at these concerts. Everyone wore a serious expression, nobody dared to clear their throat, let alone laugh, even though this music brought so much joy. You will search in vain for this contrived, solemn atmosphere at a concert with André Rieu. The orchestra consists of young, highly motivated musicians who perform on stage with heart and soul, evening after evening. This spark of enthusiasm also passes over to the audience. Swaying along, humming, clapping, jumping - whatever you enjoy is allowed!
The 4* Courtyard by Marriott Düsseldorf Seestern (official national rating) is located in the modern Seestern district and offers an ideal base for excursions into Düsseldorf city centre, which is easily reached by public transport. The comfortable rooms feature a bath or shower/WC, hairdryer, TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, safe, and tea and coffee facilities. The hotel also has a restaurant, a bar and a fitness area with sauna.
