Apulia - terra e mare - land and sea - is a world of contrasts, with dramatic cliff coastlines, lush garden landscapes, Oriental-style towns, magnificent castles, mysterious caves and the crystal-clear Adriatic. This Eurobus Deluxe coach tour takes you to a different, almost unknown southern Italy with its own, more leisurely pace of life, where the bustle of the morning gives way abruptly to the stillness and languor of the early afternoon siesta.
Day 1: Switzerland - Tortoreto Lido
Travel past Bologna to the Adriatic coast.
Day 2: Tortoreto - Carovigno
Along the coast south to the mystical, octagonal Castel del Monte, also known as the "Stone Crown of Apulia". Continue south to Carovigno/Torre Santa Sabina by the sea.
Day 3: Alberobello - Ostuni
With your tour guide, discover Apulia's garden landscape and marvel at Alberobello, the "City of 1000 Trulli", and its primitive white "pointed-roof houses". Ostuni owes its nickname "White City" to its beautiful old town of whitewashed limestone houses. Built on three hills, it offers a magnificent view over the olive groves of the plain.
Day 4: Orecchiette - Monopoli
A leisurely day with a morning orecchiette cooking course and a light lunch. In the afternoon, an excursion to the port town of Monopoli, which has preserved its original Apulian charm.
Day 5: Lecce - Gallipoli
(Optional excursion) Trip to the "Florence of the South" - Lecce. On the west coast of the heel, Gallipoli welcomes you with a sea of houses in every shade of white. Return journey through the wine region of Galatina.
Day 6: Matera - San Severino
The highlight of the day is the guided visit of the impressive cave dwellings of Matera. Continue to Mercato San Severino near Salerno.
Day 7: Amalfi Coast - Castiglion
Enjoy a leisurely boat trip from Salerno to Amalfi and back to Salerno. Admire the rugged cliffs of the Amalfi Coast. In the afternoon, continue to southern Tuscany, to Castiglion Fiorentino near Arezzo.
Day 8: Castiglion - Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
You stay in good 4* hotels throughout (official national rating), including 4 nights at the family-run 4* Boutique Hotel Cico, just 30 m from the sea and the promenade in Torre Santa Sabina. The modern rooms are equipped with bath or shower/WC, flat-screen TV and air conditioning. The hotels in Tortoreto, Castiglion and Mercato San Severino offer modern comfort. Equivalent hotels in case of unavailability.
