A land in motion, with the magic potions of the Druids
Normandy is like a painting: green meadows, golden sandy beaches and culinary delights such as Calvados, cider and Camembert. In Brittany, you will marvel at the raw power of nature as the Atlantic crashes against the shore. These are images of a landscape of bizarre rock formations, wild coastlines and rich traditions, which make this Deluxe coach tour an unforgettable experience.
Via Basle you travel along the Autoroute du Soleil towards Chartres. The medieval town sits on a plateau surrounded by wheat fields, on the banks of the River Eure. You stay in the town centre.
The last boarding point in Switzerland is Basle, Meret Oppenheim-Strasse, at 09.10.
You pass through the green, lush hills of Normandy, one of the most fertile regions of the country. Bayeux stands out among the towns of Normandy, as it is especially dedicated to preserving its cultural heritage. Following in the footsteps of the Second World War liberators, you reach the coast at Arromanches, where the Allied troops landed on 6 June 1944 to liberate Europe. The fascinating little Musée du Débarquement commemorates the significance of this place during the Second World War. Onward journey to Saint-Malo.
Excursion to the wonder of the Western world, the highlight of every trip to Normandy: Mont Saint-Michel. Visible from afar, the monastic fortress on its 80-metre-high rock dominates the Wadden Sea like a mirage, and at high tide it is completely surrounded by water. The granite rock is connected to the mainland by a causeway of almost 2 km, and at high tide it is entirely surrounded by water. During the day you return to Saint-Malo. Although the old town was almost completely destroyed, it was rebuilt as faithfully as possible, with its narrow lanes and tall granite houses.
(Optional excursion) Accompanied by your tour guide, you pass the legendary enchanted forest of Paimpont, where the legends of Merlin the magician, the fairy Viviane and Lancelot come to life. At Carnac you stand in a mystical world before an enigma that remains unsolved to this day: the 5,000-year-old mysterious menhirs and rows of stones made of local granite. Stroll through the flower-filled medieval town of Vannes, whose perfectly preserved and richly decorated, colourful half-timbered houses are protected by a mighty city wall.
At the mouth of the Rance you make a stop at the interesting tidal power station and learn about how energy is generated. The power station lies inside the dam, reached through a 390-metre tunnel. Visit Dinan, a jewel among the old Breton towns: its city walls, lanes and half-timbered houses from the 15th century create a harmonious picture. Walk through the picturesque old town, which lies high above the River Rance. Dinan is one of the best-preserved towns in France. Then you drive to the jagged, picturesque "Emerald Coast" and the legendary Cap Fréhel.
Via Le Mans you travel to the Loire, the garden of France. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, princes, dukes and kings brought immense wealth to the Loire Valley and built countless castles and palaces. Continue to Blois. For more than four centuries, rulers have extended and remodelled the town and especially the castle you will visit. The conspiracy against Gaston of Orléans, the escape of Maria de' Medici and the murder of the Duke of Guise are enough to feed the legend.
Return journey to Switzerland.
