Carnival in Nice

Journey via Ticino and Milan to the Italian Riviera of Flowers.

After a leisurely breakfast, you set off for Nice and enjoy one of the most beautiful coastal routes in Europe, with breathtaking views of picturesque bays. On arrival in Nice, the city welcomes you with its characteristically colourful façades, the famous flower market and numerous charming cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Use the free time to stroll leisurely through the old town and along the promenade and let the city's atmosphere sink in. The famous "Promenade des Anglais", home to the famous Casino, is the heart of the carnival held every year, whose roots go back to 1294. Look forward to the colourful Flower Parade, where flower-decorated floats, imaginatively costumed people and impressive figures transport you into a dreamlike world. For the perfect view of the spectacle, we have reserved seats for you in the grandstand. After the Flower Parade, the return journey to the hotel follows.

Today our coach takes you to Menton. Sheltered by the Maritime Alps in the background, the town enjoys the mildest climate on the Côte d'Azur. This mild climate gave rise to the many beautiful gardens in which numerous orange and lemon trees grow. See for yourself on a visit to the renowned Bioves Gardens. In this park in the middle of the old town, you will find fantastic replicas and mosaics made of lemons and oranges. Afterwards, you attend the Lemon Festival. The "Fête du Citron" of Menton is a unique event worldwide and, after the Carnival and the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco, the most important event on the Côte d'Azur. For three weeks, the citrus fruits are celebrated extensively with events, parades and shows, and no less than 145 tonnes of real fruit are arranged into elaborate sculptures that can reach up to 10 metres in height.
