Masks, Music & Sea Air
When Tuscany shows its most colourful and lively side, you can look forward to a journey full of indulgence, culture and Italian tradition. Enjoy historic towns, regional culinary specialities and the famous Viareggio Carnival, with its impressive floats and infectious atmosphere.
Travel via Ticino and Milan to Gragnano.
The roots of Lucca go back to Etruscan times. Today, the historic city walls, magnificent churches and stately palaces still shape the charming townscape. On a walking tour, you will discover, among other things, the former Roman amphitheatre and the churches of San Michele in Foro and San Martino. During a short stop, enjoy the traditional Lucchese cake with an espresso or cappuccino. In the afternoon, a wine and olive oil tasting with delicious bruschette at a winery provides a delightful end to the day.
In the morning you visit the Cittadella del Carnevale in Viareggio, where the impressive floats and intricate papier-mâché figures for the famous carnival are created. During your tour, you can also discover the Carnival Museum. Afterwards, there is time for a stroll along the elegant seafront promenade. After a free lunch break, the highlight of the day awaits: the grand carnival parade in Viareggio. Spectacular themed floats and giant papier-mâché figures move along the promenade and create an unforgettable experience with music, colours and lively festive spirit.
Day 4: Florence
Today you discover Florence, the famous metropolis of art and culture. The tram takes you conveniently to the historic centre, where magnificent palaces, impressive churches and important squares await. The lively historic market hall with its colourful hustle and bustle provides an exciting contrast. Before returning to the hotel, enjoy typical Tuscan specialities accompanied by a glass of wine.
Pisa offers far more than just its famous Leaning Tower. During a walking tour, you experience the impressive setting of the Piazza dei Miracoli, with the cathedral, baptistery, Camposanto and the world-famous tower. You then continue to Lari, a charming little town. There you visit a family-run pasta factory, where traditional pasta varieties are still made by hand. To conclude the day, you enjoy a cherry liqueur tasting.
