Easter traditions with heart and heritage
While people in Nuremberg light traditional Easter bonfires, Polish festive customs come to life along the Oder. In the picturesque river city of Wrocław in particular, Easter is celebrated with exuberance, with colourful processions and historic Easter markets. Further west, in baroque Dresden, the Easter weekend winds down cosily with a classic city walk.
Travel via St. Gallen to Nuremberg. Walk through the historic old town, past magnificent half-timbered houses, the mighty Imperial Castle and along romantic lanes full of history
Journey via Görlitz to the Polish Oder metropolis of Wrocław, which enchants with its historic old town, colourful market square and hidden dwarf figures.
On Easter Saturday, a tour guide takes you to the city's most beautiful churches so you can experience the traditional blessing of the food up close. Together with the locals, you bring a lovingly decorated Easter basket filled with eggs, bread and salt to the altar. For a sweet finish to the tour, you try the traditional Polish Easter cake "Mazurek", decorated with coloured nuts and dried fruit. Afterwards, free time at your own disposal.
The day begins with a festive Easter breakfast, featuring traditional dishes such as white barszcz soup and savoury white sausage. Then a scenic drive through the Giant Mountains takes you directly to the historic town of Jelenia Góra (Hirschberg). To conclude the excursion, relax in the time-honoured spa town of Bad Warmbrunn (Cieplice Śląskie-Zdrój) and enjoy the mountain scenery.
