Book lovers from all over the world visit Frankfurt once a year to hear exciting and gripping topics and news first-hand. The book fair is a cultural event that every literature enthusiast should experience at least once. Immerse yourself in fictional worlds, meet fellow literature fans and discuss books with famous authors: experience the world of books up close, now for the 79th time! Here you can come face to face with your literary idols at countless author readings or poetry slams. Discover the publishing industry at its most lively! Two days devoted entirely to books.
Day 1: Switzerland - Frankfurt
You travel via Basel and Karlsruhe directly to Frankfurt and the book fair. The Frankfurt Book Fair is the largest trade fair for the international publishing industry, with over 7,300 exhibitors from more than 100 countries, around 286,000 visitors, over 4,000 events and around 10,000 accredited journalists, of whom 2,400 are bloggers. It is also a cross-industry meeting point for players from the film industry and the games sector. Be there up close as new bestsellers are presented and get autographs from your favourite authors.
Since 1976, the focus of the programme has been the guest of honour, which changes every year and introduces the fair audience to its book market, literature and culture in many different ways. Chile is the guest country of the 79th book fair. Overnight stay at the Hotel Maritim, located directly at the fair.
Day 2: Frankfurt - Switzerland
Take another opportunity to visit the Frankfurt Book Fair. Browse your favourite genre or discover something entirely new! Return journey to Switzerland in the course of the afternoon.
You will stay at the 4* Hotel Maritim Frankfurt (official national category). The fair with its well-known Messeturm tower, the Congress Center Frankfurt and the Festhalle Frankfurt are all located right next to the Maritim Hotel Frankfurt. The rooms have a bath or shower/WC, TV, telephone, Wi-Fi, mini-fridge, safe, kettle and air conditioning. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar. An equivalent hotel if the original is unavailable.
