The wild west coast of the island of Ireland
Set off on an exciting Deluxe coach tour along the diverse Irish coastline. From the Northern Irish capital Belfast, you will head out to visit the various stops along the spectacular coastal road and get to know each one. The Wild Atlantic Way offers numerous natural highlights, such as the Giant's Causeway and the Cliffs of Moher, the Connemara National Park, and one of Europe's most beautiful scenic routes, the Ring of Dingle. Small towns such as Bantry and Dingle Town, as well as larger, livelier cities such as Derry, Galway and Dublin, lie along your route.
Journey through Alsace to Rotterdam. Boarding a P&O ferry for the crossing to England. On board, restaurants and cafés look after your comfort (overnight on board).
The last boarding point in Switzerland is Basel, Meret Oppenheim-Strasse, at 08:10.
Disembark in Hull. You cross England to reach Wales. Crossing from Holyhead on the north Welsh coast to Dublin. Transfer to your hotel in the centre of Dublin.
Continue to Belfast. Around midday you reach Belfast, where the Titanic was launched in 1912. Afterwards an interesting city tour is on the programme. The fine cityscape is shaped by Victorian buildings. You admire many sights such as City Hall, the Grand Opera House and the Shankill and Falls Roads.
At the bizarre yet beautiful coastal landscape of the Giant's Causeway you encounter 40,000 perfectly hexagonal basalt columns (UNESCO World Heritage Site) rising out of the sea. Visit and tasting at Bushmills, the oldest whiskey distillery in the world. Overnight in Letterkenny.
Excursion along the famous Knockalla Coast Road into the rugged beauty of the Fanad Head Peninsula, to the magnificent Ballymastocker Beach, which The Observer newspaper counts among the most beautiful beaches in the world. Fanad Lighthouse is the favourite subject of all photographers. You travel past lakes, expansive bogland, gorse and green mountains to Donegal's greatest attraction, Glenveagh National Park with its neo-Gothic castle.
At 600 metres, the Slieve League cliffs are among the highest in Europe and offer unique views over the rough Atlantic. From here your journey takes you to Mullaghmore. On a relaxed beach walk you can enjoy the wind and the waves. In the evening you reach your hotel in the Westport area.
Excursion to Achill Island, Ireland's largest island, which is 22 km long and 19 km wide. The island can be reached via a bridge. Achill offers moorland, mountains, steep cliffs and wide beaches. The sea and lakes, picturesque coastlines and peat bogs, dark rivers and green forests define the heathland scenery of Connemara.
You cross the primeval lunar landscape of the Burren karst region. Stop at the “Cliffs of Moher”, which rise up to 200 m vertically out of the sea along a length of almost 8 km. Continue to Kilrush. You cross the Shannon estuary by ferry before reaching Killarney in the evening.
(Optional excursion) On the Dingle Peninsula you feel transported back to the ‘good old days’. You explore the colourful little town of Dingle Town.
From Killarney you travel north-east to Dublin. On a city tour with a local guide you visit Trinity College, whose impressive old library houses Ireland's most valuable manuscript: the magnificently illuminated “Book of Kells”.
