Day 1: Switzerland - Karlsruhe

Journey via Basel and Freiburg, arriving in Karlsruhe at approx. 12:30. Stroll along Kaiserstrasse, the city centre's main shopping boulevard. Here you will find numerous shops and cafés. Shoppers and window-shoppers will find most of what they are looking for in the centre along Wald-, Herren- and Ritterstrasse, the western part of the fan-shaped street layout, as well as the crosswise Erbprinzenstrasse. The Christmas market is located right in the city centre in front of the historic Postgalerie on Stephansplatz. Colourful stalls and a wide variety of delicacies await on Friedrichsplatz. In Lammstrasse, a 17-metre-high mulled wine pyramid catches the eye. Towards evening, a colourful supporting programme of music and other performances begins.

Day 2: Karlsruhe (3-day trip)

Day 2 / 3: Karlsruhe - Switzerland

Spend the morning strolling through one of the most beautiful pedestrian zones in Europe. 14:30 return journey to Switzerland.

Kaiserstrasse: The main shopping boulevard features international chains as well as shops with a long-standing tradition.

Ettlinger Tor: Covering an area of 33'000 m2, this unique, light-flooded shopping centre offers 130 specialist shops, cafés and restaurants across three floors.

The Christmas market

It features more than 120 lovingly decorated stalls selling handcrafted goods made of glass, porcelain, wood, leather and wool, honey products, spices and teas, candles, jewellery and toys. Also very popular are products from the Erzgebirge region, such as nutcrackers, incense smokers and nativity scenes. Opening hours: 11:00 - 22:00

The 4* The Q Quadro City Hotel (official national category / formerly 4* Hotel ACHAT Plaza) is located in the heart of the city. It is just a 10 minutes' walk to the Christmas market.
