Experience the heart of Italy: stroll through the charming city of Lucca, discover the gastronomic delights of Chianti and take part in an exclusive pasta-making course and a genuine truffle hunt on a Tuscan estate.
Day 1: Switzerland - Montecatini Terme
Travel via Ticino, Milan, La Spezia and along the coast of the Western Mediterranean into Tuscany, to Montecatini Terme.
Day 2: Lucca and pasta-making class
Lucca is one of Italy's most beautiful cities, welcoming you with its elegant historic centre. The Torre Guinigi, crowned with centuries-old holm oaks, makes a striking feature above the city's rooftops. The fully preserved city walls encircle the old town like a green ring and offer wonderful views of its medieval townscape. During your walking tour, you will discover the narrow lanes, the impressive cathedral with its labyrinth carved in stone, and the facades clad in pale marble that give Lucca its distinctive character. Afterwards, a pasta-making class with tasting awaits you on an estate, where you will learn traditional techniques and enjoy homemade specialities.
Day 3: Chianti and truffles
Today's journey takes you through the enchanting landscape of Chianti, characterised by gently rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards and striking rows of cypress trees. Scattered throughout are old farmhouses and small wineries that give this region its distinctive charm. Chianti Classico is considered the heart of the area and has long been famous for its ruby-red wine, which has become a symbol of Italian wine culture. At a tasting with a light snack, you will get to know the typical aromas of this region. You then continue to an estate, where you will be introduced to the art of truffle hunting.
Day 4: Tuscany - Switzerland
Relaxed return journey through Lombardy towards Switzerland, followed by the drive back to the pick-up points.
You will stay for three nights at the 4* Hotel Tuscany Inn in Montecatini Terme. The modern property combines clean lines with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The comfortably furnished rooms feature a bath or shower/WC, TV, minibar, internet access and a safe. In the hotel restaurant, you can enjoy a varied menu of regional specialities and Mediterranean classics.
