Lake Garda - Venice - Verona

Trip highlights:

  • Venice – a unique city on the water
  • Lake Garda - snow-capped mountains and palm trees
  • Verona - opera and a tragic love story

From palms and lemon groves by the lake to the lagoon city

Lake Garda was already known in antiquity for its mild climate. Gentle bays, rugged cliffs and subtropical vegetation define the character of this region. Picturesque villages such as Bardolino and Sirmione invite you to stroll. In Venice you wander with your tour guide through narrow lanes and along the picturesque canals.

Day 1: Switzerland - Lake Garda

Via the Gotthard, you travel to Ticino and past Milan towards Bergamo. In the course of the afternoon, you reach the shores of Lake Garda.

Day 2: Excursion to Lake Garda

Excursion (optional) By boat, you cross the lake and admire the most beautiful spot on Lake Garda, San Vigilio, before going ashore in Garda. Garda is a picturesque town on the shore of Lake Garda in northern Italy. The old town of Garda is a real highlight, with narrow lanes, charming squares and a wealth of shops and restaurants. In the afternoon, you visit Sirmione, whose position at the tip of a narrow peninsula is spectacular and unique. The car-free old town has become an island thanks to a wide canal dug along the castle.

Day 3: Excursion to Venice

Excursion (optional) From Tronchetto, a boat takes you to the centre of Venice. The houses, built on piles, form a dense maze of streets, alleys and canals. During the guided tour with the local tour guide, you admire not only impressive palaces, St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, but also discover lesser-known and hidden corners of the lagoon city. Afterwards, there is time to explore the city at your own pace.

Day 4: Excursion to Verona

Excursion (optional) Journey to Verona: a storybook old town, historic façades around the Piazza delle Erbe, the former marketplace, and arguably the most romantic love story of all time: Romeo and Juliet, with the most famous balcony in literary history. In the evening, you are treated to a delicious, local dinner on the magnificent estate of the de Zinis family.

Day 5: Lake Garda - Switzerland

Return journey via Milan to Ticino and back to German-speaking Switzerland.

You stay in comfort at the 4* Park Hotel Casimiro (official local category) in San Felice del Benaco. Surrounded by a large garden, the hotel enjoys a superb location directly on the lakeshore. The freshly renovated rooms are equipped with bath or shower/WC, hairdryer, safe, air conditioning and satellite TV. Equivalent hotels if unavailable.
