Fidelio & Concert at the Gewandhaus
Leipzig and Dresden combine a great musical tradition with unique cultural treasures. Look forward to a concert with the renowned Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig and Beethoven's «Fidelio» at the magnificent Semperoper in Dresden. A varied supporting programme of major sights, art and history rounds off this special opera and concert tour through two of Saxony's most beautiful cultural cities.
Day 1: Switzerland – Leipzig
Journey to Leipzig. Room allocation and dinner at the exclusive Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof.
Day 2: Leipzig & Concert
During the city tour you will discover the market square with the historic town hall, St Thomas Church and the Mädler Passage. In the afternoon you have time to explore at your own pace. Before the concert at the Gewandhaus, enjoy a delicious dinner at a selected restaurant, a atmospheric prelude to an engaging evening of music.
Day 3: Leipzig – Dresden
After a late breakfast, you set off from Leipzig for Dresden. There you will visit the Frauenkirche and listen to a stirring organ devotion. Afterwards you will check into your elegant room at the Steigenberger Hotel. The afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy for your own discoveries or some relaxing hours.
Day 4: Dresden & Opera
A guided walking tour takes you past the finest sights of the Saxon royal capital. Afterwards, enjoy a free lunch break. In the early afternoon your boat cruise begins along the Elbe valley, past magnificent palaces and elegant villas as far as the "Blue Wonder" and back. Coffee and cake await you on board. The rest of the afternoon is free for your own plans. Before the opera performance, you will meet for a light dinner.
Day 5: Dresden – Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
You will stay two nights at the 5* Steigenberger Hotel in the Old Town of Leipzig and two nights at the 4* Steigenberger Hotel by the Frauenkirche in Dresden.
