Light festival and Christmas shopping
The capital of the Grand Duchy looks back on more than a thousand years of history and impresses with its arcades in the old town, the ducal palace and the 'Corniche', often called the most beautiful balcony in Europe. Picturesque squares, charming old town lanes and splendidly decorated boulevards invite you to stroll. Luxembourg also offers everything a shopper could wish for: long pedestrian zones and elegant boutiques.
Day 1: Switzerland - Luxembourg
Journey via Metz to Luxembourg. Arrival at approx. 15:00. Visit the cosy Christmas markets spread throughout the city. The city has plenty to offer, as during Advent the "Winterlights" light and animation festival takes place, transforming Luxembourg into a sparkling, fairytale world of light. Attractions such as the Ferris wheel, the Advent circus and concerts make your visit an unforgettable experience.
Day 2: Excursion to Trier
Discover the Christmas-decorated city at your own leisure. The city offers a variety of historic and cultural sights. Or how about a leisurely Christmas stroll along the „Grand Rue“?
Optional: In the afternoon you have the opportunity to join an excursion to the German city of Trier, where the romantic Christmas market awaits you in front of the imposing backdrop of Trier Cathedral. The Trier Christmas market offers 95 festively decorated wooden chalets with gifts, Christmas articles and treats.
Day 3: Luxembourg - Switzerland
Take one last stroll along the "Corniche" and enjoy the wonderful view of the opposite side of the valley with the elegant facades of the aristocratic houses. 11:00 Departure.
The Christmas markets
During Advent, around 70 charming wooden chalets and a richly decorated Christmas tree on Place d'Armes adorn the old town of Luxembourg. Indulge in typical Luxembourgish specialities such as Gromperekichelcher, Mettwurscht, homemade chocolate....

You will stay at the 4* Hotel Novotel Luxembourg Centre (official national category), located in the historic centre of Luxembourg. A 15-minute walk takes you to the Christmas market on Place d'Armes and other sights. The modern and comfortable rooms feature a bath or shower/WC, hairdryer, TV, Wi-Fi and a safe. The hotel offers a restaurant, bar and fitness area. Equivalent hotel if unavailable.
