Day 1: Switzerland - Venice
Travel past Milan to Venice. Your hotel is conveniently reached by water taxi. Shared dinner at the selected
Hotel Indigo Venice Sant' Elena.
Day 2: Venice
Venice awaits you! Countless palaces, fascinating squares, romantic waterways and canals beckon. The day is yours to enjoy freely. Let yourself wander through narrow, picturesque lanes or savour a cappuccino at the legendary "Florian", the oldest café in Italy. (Optional) Following in the footsteps of Donna Leon. Optionally, a very special city tour awaits you today. Dedicated to Commissario Brunetti, you will discover the settings and secrets of these classic crime novels. From St Mark's Square on to the San Lorenzo police station, where Brunetti's office is located. You will also see Campo S. Aponal, where according to Donna Leon Brunetti's home is situated, and be able to soak up the atmosphere of this place.
Day 3: Venice
Start your free day with a wonderful breakfast and set off to explore Venice at your own pace. (Optional) How about a visit to the lagoon islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello? On this full-day boat trip through the unique Venetian Lagoon, you will get to know the three main islands. Torcello, now almost uninhabited, was the centre of the earliest culture in the lagoon. Murano, by contrast, is world-famous for its glassblowing. On Burano you will feel transported to another world, to a rural fishing village of the 19th century. Its brightly coloured houses once attracted many painters. Delicate lace, made here since the 16th century, is famous worldwide.
Day 4: Venice - Switzerland
Take the Venetian Motoscafo water taxi to Tronchetto, then return to Switzerland via the Gotthard route.
You will stay for 3 nights at the selected 4* Hotel Indigo Venice Sant' Elena
(official local category), a former Venetian convent with a well-kept garden. The rooms offer a pleasant view of the inner garden or of life in the quiet lanes of the district. All rooms reflect an original mix of modern design and appealing creativity. Equivalent hotel if the selected one is unavailable.
