Journey to Nice. Check-in at the famous Hotel Le Negresco. Welcome dinner at a select restaurant.
In the morning you discover Nice on a guided sightseeing tour. The elegant city on the Côte d’Azur impresses with its magnificent architecture, the famous Promenade des Anglais, the lively old town and its distinctive Mediterranean flair. Afterwards you have time for your own exploration. Enjoy the free afternoon with a stroll by the sea, a café visit or a wander through the old town.
Before departing for Monte Carlo, a stylish opera aperitif sets the mood for the musical highlight of the evening. Then drive to the Principality of Monaco and attend the performance at the magnificent Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Opened in 1879, the opera house was designed by Charles Garnier, architect of the Paris Opéra Garnier, and is counted among the most beautiful theatre buildings in Europe.
Today you set off on an excursion into the charming hinterland of the Côte d’Azur. First you visit the famous Fondation Maeght, one of the most important private collections of modern and contemporary art in Europe. Set in a Mediterranean garden, you will encounter works by great artists such as Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti and Georges Braque.
For lunch, an excellent restaurant in a splendid location awaits you, combining fine cuisine with a wonderful view over the picturesque Provence landscape.
Afterwards a guided tour takes you through the artists’ village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. With its medieval lanes, historic houses, small squares, galleries and studios, Saint-Paul is counted among the most beautiful villages in France and has attracted many famous artists. Back in Nice you have time for a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais or an individual dinner in the atmospheric old town.
After breakfast it is time to say farewell to the Côte d’Azur. Travelling in the comfortable Car Rouge, you return to Switzerland with many happy memories of art, music and the Mediterranean way of life.
Margitta Rosales
Her first tears in the theatre were shed in the opera house of her birthplace, Wuppertal. There Mimì's last breath drifted over the orchestra and seemed almost to tear her heart apart; there her fascination with the drama of opera was kindled, and it has never let her go since. Margitta Rosales completed her studies as a scholarship holder at the State Conservatory of Sofia and her master's degree at the Zurich University of the Arts. Since 2022 she has accompanied Car Rouge to major opera houses and concert halls. From Milan to Paris or Vienna, she shares her love of music and the incomparable experience of immersing yourself in the fascinating world of a concert hall, the sound of voices and instruments that transport us to other dimensions of time.
