The Byzantine mosaics of San Vitale in Ravenna are a unique cultural heritage treasured around the world. In the city of Bologna, you will encounter a rich cultural heritage at every turn, shaped by its famous arcades and its venerable university. At the Teatro Alighieri, which honours the author of the „Divina Commedia“, the Ravenna Festival pays tribute to Mozart with three performances. The production is directed by the highly regarded director Chiara Muti.
Day 1: Switzerland – Ravenna
Journey via Bologna to Ravenna. Your 4* hotel is located in the heart of the historic old town. Dinner at a selected restaurant.
Day 2: Ravenna & Opera
During the city tour, you will see the most important architectural monuments from the Gothic and Byzantine periods. Ravenna is world-famous above all for its oldest, fully preserved wall mosaics. You will visit the Basilica of San Vitale, which art experts call the "Miracle of Ravenna". Free afternoon. In the evening, opera aperitif and performance.
Day 3: Excursion to Bologna & Opera
Bologna boasts one of the most beautiful and best-preserved old towns in Europe, with many medieval towers and approximately 40 km of arcades that link the expansive city centre with its pedestrian zones, squares, churches and palaces. On a walking tour through this historic university city, you will get to know its most important sights. Afterwards, enjoy some free time in the city. Return journey to Ravenna. In the evening, opera aperitif and performance.
Day 4: Ravenna & Concert
Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe. In the morning, you visit this early Christian basilica just outside the gates of Ravenna. In a peaceful atmosphere, the famous apse mosaic unfolds, showing Saint Apollinaris in a symbolic landscape. A masterpiece of Byzantine art and spiritual visual language. Afterwards, free lunch break and performance in the late afternoon. Dinner together at a selected restaurant.
Day 5: Ravenna - Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
You will stay in the heart of Ravenna at the 4* Hotel Bisanzio. You can discover all of the city’s sights within a few metres. A perfect location for your explorations.
