Costa Smeralda – a jewel in the Mediterranean
Dolce vita with a touch of the Caribbean. That is what awaits you on the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia. Discover the lively port city of Olbia, the wall paintings on the houses in Orgosolo, Alghero with its coral coast, the cork oak forests of Gallura and the magnificent landscape of the La Maddalena archipelago.
Day 1: Switzerland - Livorno
Journey to Livorno in Tuscany and embarkation on a ferry to Olbia.
Day 2: Olbia - Gallura round trip
Today you visit the Gallura region with its picturesque village of Castelsardo, which sits on a rocky promontory and offers breathtaking views of the sea. At a cork factory, you will be introduced to the art and tradition of basket weaving.
Day 3: La Maddalena Archipelago
On a full-day boat trip, you explore the La Maddalena archipelago. Here a touch of the Caribbean awaits you: reddish granite rocks, green maquis and hidden white sandy beaches. At midday, a plate of pasta is served on board.
Day 4: Nuoro and Orgosolo
In Nuoro you gain valuable insights into Sardinian culture. At midday, a traditional shepherd's meal with regional specialities awaits you. Afterwards you visit the impressive murals in the Sardinian bandit village of Orgosolo.
Day 5: Alghero and Saccargia
(Optional) excursion to the west coast and the charming city of Alghero. This former Catalan enclave delights with a picturesque old town, an imposing city wall, a mix of architectural cultures and jewellery craftsmanship made from its world-famous coral.
Day 6: Costa Smeralda
On the Emerald Coast, step for one day into the glamorous jet-set life of the rich and beautiful. You will be amazed at every turn, and we stop in several coastal towns, such as Porto Cervo. In the evening, embarkation on a ferry from Olbia to Livorno.
Day 7: Livorno - Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
The 4* Hotel Cormorano (official local category) is located in Baja Sardinia, centrally yet quietly situated, set in a garden with a fantastic panorama. The elegant rooms, furnished in Mediterranean style, feature air conditioning, safe, minibar, satellite TV, hairdryer and balcony. The inside cabin on the ferry is equipped with a shower/WC. Comparable hotel if unavailable.
