Enjoy the incomparable lagoon city of Venice and let yourself be enchanted by the unique beauty of its canals, squares and palaces. Stroll across the majestic Piazza San Marco, arguably the most elegant open-air drawing room in Europe, surrounded by first-rate masterpieces.
Day 1: Switzerland - Venice
Journey via Milan to Venice. You will reach your hotel conveniently by Venetian water taxi. Group dinner at the Hotel Indigo Venice Sant' Elena.
Day 2: Venice
Venice awaits you! Countless palaces, fascinating squares, romantic waterways and canals beckon. The day is yours to enjoy. Let yourself drift through narrow, picturesque lanes or savour a cappuccino at the legendary "Florian", Italy's oldest café. (Optional) On the trail of Donna Leon. Today you can also book a very special guided walk. Dedicated to Commissario Brunetti, you will discover the settings and secrets of these classic crime novels. From St Mark's Square on to the police station of San Lorenzo, where Brunetti's office is located. You will also see Campo S. Aponal, where according to Donna Leon Brunetti's home is situated, and be able to soak up the atmosphere of this place.
Day 3: Venice
Begin your free day with a wonderful breakfast and set off to explore Venice at your own pace. (Optional) How about a visit to the lagoon islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello? On this full-day boat trip through the unique Venetian Lagoon, you will get to know the three most important islands. Torcello, now almost uninhabited, was the centre of the earliest culture in the lagoon. Murano, by contrast, is world-famous for its glassblowing. Burano then transports you to another world, a rural fishing village of the 19th century. Its brightly coloured houses once attracted many painters. The fine lace that has been made here since the 16th century is famous worldwide.
Day 4: Venice - Switzerland
Take the Venetian Motoscafo water taxi to Tronchetto, then return to Switzerland via the Gotthard route.
You will stay for 3 nights at the selected 4* Hotel Indigo Venice Sant' Elena (official local category), a former Venetian monastery with a well-kept garden. The rooms offer a pleasant view of the inner garden or of life in the quiet lanes of the district. All rooms combine modern design with appealing creativity. Equivalent hotel if unavailable.
