Day 1: Switzerland - Leipzig

Travel to Leipzig, where you spend the first night.

Day 2: Leipzig - Stettin - Wolin Island

Drive to Stettin, with a view from the Hakenterrasse over the Oder and the castle of the Pomeranian dukes. Continue to Wolin Island, nestled between the Baltic Sea and the Kamienski Lagoon, with its broad sandy beaches and natural dunes that gently merge into vast pine forests.

Day 3: Usedom Island

A day for the quieter side of the island. Away from the fashionable seaside resorts, Usedom reveals itself in its authentic and peaceful form, with gentle hills, old village churches, glittering lakes and wide meadows where white-tailed eagles and kingfishers circle overhead. A special stop is Mellenthin Water Castle, dating from the 16th century, which today invites you to linger with its own brewery and coffee roastery. Here you will be served coffee and cake in an atmospheric setting.

Day 4: Słowiński National Park

In Słowiński National Park, wandering dunes of up to 50 metres high creep further into the pine forests year after year, creating an almost desert-like landscape of unusual beauty. You reach the dunes comfortably by electric wagon. In the evening you arrive in Danzig, your base for the next two nights.

Day 5: Danzig

A full day for the old Hanseatic city on the Motława. You stroll along the Royal Way, which links the Golden Gate with the Green Gate, and reach the Long Market via Long Street, once home to the wealthiest patrician families. Richly decorated façades with coats of arms and classical heroic figures line the way. You will see Neptune's Fountain, the city's emblem, the Gothic St Mary's Church, the mighty Crane Gate and the Artus Court, which once served as the meeting house of the Hanseatic towns. In the afternoon there is time to explore on your own, before the day ends with a festive dinner at Restaurant Gdanska in the Old Town.

Day 6: Danzig - Oberland Canal - Masuria

Today you encounter a technical marvel of the 19th century. The Oberland Canal overcomes a height difference of around one hundred metres in a most unusual way: on several inclined planes, the boats are lifted out of the water on rails and hauled across land before floating again. On one of the sections you will experience this unique monument at close quarters. Afterwards, we continue into the land of a thousand lakes.

Day 7: Masuria

A grand tour takes you through the forested, lake-rich landscape in the north-east of Poland, home to the two largest lakes in the country. At the Holy Linden pilgrimage monastery you enjoy an atmospheric organ concert, and in the afternoon Masuria shows its most beautiful side on a boat trip. In the evening you are guests of the East Prussian Dickti family. They remained in their homeland after the war, and the son now runs the small folk museum in the family home, where the customs and traditions of bygone times remain alive. A cosy barbecue on the estate brings the day to a close.

Day 8: Masuria - Thorn

Thorn, birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, impresses with its Gothic buildings and the Leaning Tower. At the historic gingerbread factory you shape your own gingerbread and taste the famous specialities of Thorn.

Day 9: Thorn - Dresden

Travel to Dresden, where you spend your final night.

Day 10: Dresden - Switzerland

With many happy memories in your luggage, you begin the journey home.
