The Pearl of Italy on the Sunny Side of the Alps
For centuries, Lake Garda has enticed visitors with Mediterranean influences that blend beautifully with the Alpine setting. The flora is paradisiacally lush, with olive groves and lemon plantations, and the picturesque villages, with their medieval castles and narrow lanes, invite you to stroll. On this walking tour you will enjoy breathtaking views of stunning landscapes.
Journey via the Arlberg and Reschen Pass to Lake Garda.
Experience an impressive panoramic walk along the historic Ponale Road. Your route climbs gently, with magnificent views, along the western slopes of Lake Garda as far as your coffee break. The coffee break with breathtaking panoramic views invites you to linger. After a short, steeper climb, a gentle ascent follows, into the Ledro Valley. You cover the last stage by coach before reaching the idyllic Lake Ledro. (Walking time approx. 3 hrs 15 min, 7.9 km, 420 m of ascent, difficulty: easy + short, steep climb).
Discover the scenic variety of Lake Garda on a panoramic walk from the small village of Pai to Torri del Benaco. The path leads you through hidden villages, centuries-old olive groves and lush woodland. A special highlight is the new suspension bridge, from which breathtaking views open out over the whole lake. After the suspension bridge, a short, steeper descent on a gravel path follows, before you reach the picturesque old town of Torri del Benaco on an easy walking trail. Treat yourself to a well-earned break here. By coach you continue to Bardolino and taste delicious Bardolino wines there. (Walking time approx. 2.5 hrs, 7.5 km, 230 m of ascent, difficulty: easy, a short descent on gravel path after the suspension bridge).
(Optional) You start with a one-hour stroll along the shore to Riva del Garda. Onward by boat to Malcesine, where you explore the narrow alleyways on a guided town tour. Early in the afternoon the boat takes you to Limone sul Garda. Stroll through the lanes, then visit a historic lemon greenhouse before returning by boat to Torbole.
Look forward to an impressive walk along the Sentiero Busatte–Tempesta, one of the most beautiful panoramic paths on Lake Garda. To start the day comfortably, the coach takes you from Torbole to the higher-lying village of Nago. The scenic high path runs high above the lake and offers repeated spectacular views of Lake Garda and the surrounding mountain landscape. A special experience is the extremely stable, wobble-free metal staircases built along the steep rock faces, which reveal new and fascinating perspectives at every turn. After the walk, you travel to Arco, where you have time for a late, independent lunch. Afterwards you get to know the charming spa town on a guided tour. Arco is known for its mild climate, its elegant old town and the imposing castle of Arco, which towers on a rock high above the town. Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Piccolo Mondo****. (Walking time approx. 3 hrs, 7.2 km, 180 m ascent, 320 m descent, difficulty: moderate).
