Immerse yourself in the blossoming world around Mantua, where magnificent gardens, a romantic nature reserve and the enchanting old town come together. This trip combines art and culture with some of Italy's most beautiful gardens – a feast for all the senses.
Trip details
Day 1: Switzerland - Mantua
Journey through Switzerland to Mantua in Lombardy. Check-in at the hotel and free time at your leisure. In the evening, welcome drink and a dinner together.
Day 2: Mantua and Palazzo Te
Walking tour of the romantic island town of Mantua, once the seat of the Gonzaga princely family: Piazza Sordello, the cathedral, Piazza delle Erbe with its clock tower and the Basilica of Sant'Andrea. This is followed by a visit to Palazzo Te, the Mannerist summer residence of the Gonzaga with sumptuous frescoes by Giulio Romano.
Day 3: Lago Superiore - Mincio
Drive to the pilgrimage church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Curtatone with its extraordinary interior. After a typical lunch, a boat trip awaits you on the Lago Superiore through the Mincio nature reserve, past blooming water lilies and lotus flowers, disembarking at the picturesque Giardini Belfiore.
Day 4: Parco Sigurtà
Covering more than 50 hectares, Parco Sigurtà is among the most beautiful gardens in the world – a stroll or a ride on the little tourist train leads you through magnificent floral landscapes. In the afternoon, the picturesque village of Borghetto beckons with its lovingly restored houses on the Mincio and the historic Ponte Visconteo.
Day 5: Mantua - Switzerland
After breakfast, return journey to your boarding points in Switzerland.
The newly opened, modern 4* Hotel LVG Hotel Collection (official national rating) is located 3 km from the historic centre of Mantua. All rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, safe, minibar and free Wi-Fi. A hotel of equivalent standard will be used if unavailable.
