Chelsea Flower Show
If the world were a garden, its heart would lie in the picturesque landscapes of Kent. Let yourself be enchanted by the British passion for magnificent castles and historic parks. The absolute highlights of this journey are a visit to the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show and Sissinghurst Castle Garden.
Journey by comfortable Car Rouge coach to northern France. (Mercure Arras Centre****).
Ferry crossing from Calais to Dover and later a stop in the charming town of Rye. With its fascinating Old England character, winding cobbled lanes and well-preserved stone houses, this historic town radiates a timeless charm that will captivate you too. Then continue to the small town of Sevenoaks. (4 nights at Donnington Manor Hotel****).
Today you first visit the romantic moated Hever Castle, beautifully set in a dreamy park. Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, spent her childhood here. One of the most unforgettable areas of the gardens is the Italian Garden, designed specifically to display William Waldorf Astor's collection of Italian sculptures. The walled rose garden with over 3,000 plants is also particularly beautiful.
Next you continue to Emmetts Gardens. The gardens lie at one of the highest points in Kent and offer a magnificent panoramic view. Laid out in the late 19th century, they contain exotic plant species from around the world as well as picturesque woodland and wildflower meadows. A few tea rooms complete the offering and await their visitors.
The unique Chelsea Flower Show in London covers an area of 4.5 hectares and showcases the latest garden trends of 2026. Opened by Queen Alexandra in 1913, it is today the most important exhibition of its kind and a social event that moves all of England. In London itself the show is an almost fashionable event. More than 600 exhibitors present the newest plant varieties and unusual garden decorations. Spring, summer and autumn flowers bloom side by side here in May. The focus, however, is on the many innovative show gardens.
Garden lovers now get more and more value for their money. First you drive to Christopher Lloyd's garden paradise. At Great Dixter something is in bloom all year round: native plants, exotic species from Japan to South America, alongside sustainable fruit, herb and vegetable cultivation. The hearts of all romantically inclined garden enthusiasts will later open at the sight of the medieval castle ruin of Scotney Castle, which lies picturesquely surrounded by a lake in a wonderful garden and parkland landscape.
To conclude the journey you visit the wonderful Sissinghurst estate. Themed gardens with a great deal of atmosphere were created by hedges and walls, such as the legendary rose garden or the "white garden". Via Dover and the ferry crossing to Calais you reach the northern French city of Lille. (Mercure Lille Marcq en Baroeul****).
