Between Palaces, Cities and Gentle Hills
Saxony is one of Germany's most fascinating cultural landscapes, combining contrasts, history and creative diversity. Among magnificent palaces, lively cities and idyllic countryside, we explore a region where tradition and the present day come together in harmony. Our journey begins in Dresden, a city of Baroque architecture, a stunning setting on the Elbe and a rich cultural life.
Travel via Basel to Dresden, where you arrive late in the afternoon. Enjoy the impressive scenery along the way before checking into your accommodation in the Saxon cultural capital.
Together with your city guide, explore Dresden. The city on the Elbe impresses with baroque splendour, numerous important sights and a rich cultural heritage.
Punt trip through the Spreewald from Lübbenau to Lehde. In the typical Spreewald village you visit the open-air museum and learn fascinating facts about the region and the way of life of its residents.
Excursion to Meissen, famous for its porcelain. You visit the workshop and showroom of the Porcelain Manufactory. Afterwards, a guided tour takes you around Albrechtsburg, Germany's oldest castle, high above the Elbe valley.
(Optional excursion) Scenic drive through the Saxon Switzerland National Park. You visit the famous Bastei Bridge, with views over the rock landscape. Afterwards, enjoy a boat trip from Pirna to Königstein and visit the impressive fortress on the rock above the Elbe valley.
After memorable days, you set off on your return journey to Switzerland.
You stay at the 4* Hotel Elbflorenz Dresden (official national rating), only about a 10-minute walk from the city centre and Dresden's Old Town. The hotel has a sauna, a fitness area (for a fee) and a terrace with panoramic views over the city. The rooms are air-conditioned and feature French windows, cable TV, minibar and Wi-Fi. Equivalent hotel if unavailable.
