Trip details

Day 1: Switzerland – Arras

Journey in the comfortable Car Rouge to northern France. (Mercure Arras Centre****).

Day 2: Arras – Sevenoaks

Ferry crossing from Calais to Dover, followed by a stop in the charming town of Rye. With its fascinating old-England look, winding cobbled lanes and well-preserved stone houses, this historic town radiates a timeless magic and will draw you in too. Afterwards, continue to the small town of Sevenoaks. (4 nights at Hotel Donnington Manor****).

Day 3: Hever Castle – Emmetts Garden

Today you first visit the romantic moated castle of Hever Castle, beautifully set in a dreamy park. Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, spent her childhood here. One of the most memorable areas of the gardens is the Italian Garden, designed especially for William Waldorf Astor's collection of Italian sculptures. The walled rose garden with over 3,000 plants is also particularly beautiful.

You then continue to Emmetts Garden. The gardens lie at one of the highest points in Kent and offer magnificent panoramic views. Laid out in the late 19th century, the gardens contain exotic plant species from around the world as well as picturesque woodland and wildflower meadows. A number of tea rooms complete the offer and await their visitors.

Day 4: Chelsea Flower Show

The unique Chelsea Flower Show in London presents the latest garden trends of 2026 across an area of 4.5 hectares. Opened by Queen Alexandra in 1913, it is today the most important exhibition of its kind and a social event that captivates all of England. In London itself, the show is almost a fashionable society occasion. More than 600 exhibitors present the latest plant varieties and unusual garden decorations. Spring, summer and autumn flowers bloom side by side here in May. The focus, however, is on the many innovative show gardens.

Day 5: Great Dixter - Scotney Castle

Garden lovers now get more and more for their money. You first travel to Christopher Lloyd's garden paradise. Great Dixter is in bloom all year round: native plants, exotic plants from Japan to South America, alongside sustainable fruit, herb and vegetable growing. The heart of every romantic garden devotee opens later at the sight of the medieval castle ruins of Scotney Castle, picturesquely set around a lake in a wonderful landscape of gardens and parkland.

Day 6: Sissinghurst – Lille

To conclude the trip, you visit the wonderful estate of Sissinghurst. Hedges and walls form themed gardens full of atmosphere, such as the legendary rose garden and the "White Garden". Via Dover and the ferry crossing to Calais, you reach Lille in northern France. (Mercure Lille Marcq en Baroeul****).

Day 7: Lille – Switzerland

Journey home to Switzerland.

You will stay for 4 nights in a romantic, elegant country house hotel set in the glorious parkland of Kent. The lovingly renovated ****Donnington Manor Hotel in Sevenoaks offers elegant rooms in typical English style and suits the theme of the trip perfectly.
