Colourful days on the French-Italian Riviera
On this trip, you can look forward to the unique Lemon Festival in Menton and the spectacular Carnival of Nice. Escape the winter with us for a few days and enjoy the first sunshine of the year on the Côte d'Azur, where spring has already arrived.
Trip details
Day 1: Switzerland - Riviera dei Fiori
Journey via Ticino and Milan to the Italian Riviera dei Fiori.
Day 2: Nice Carnival
After a hearty breakfast, you set off for Nice, enjoying one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Europe with breathtaking views of picturesque bays. On arrival in Nice, the city awaits with its characteristically colourful house façades, the famous flower market and numerous charming cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Use your free time to stroll leisurely through the old town and along the promenade and soak up the city's flair.
The famous "Promenade des Anglais", home to the renowned casino, is the heart of the annual carnival, whose roots go back to 1294. Look forward to the colourful flower parade, in which floats decorated with flowers, imaginatively costumed people and impressive figures whisk you away to a dreamlike world. For the perfect view of the spectacle, we have reserved seats in the grandstand for you. After the flower parade, you return to the hotel.
Day 3: Menton Lemon Festival
Today our coach takes you to Menton – sheltered by the Maritime Alps in the background, the little town enjoys the mildest climate on the Côte d’Azur. This mild climate has given rise to the many beautiful gardens in which numerous orange and lemon trees grow. See for yourself when you visit the famous Bioves Gardens. In this park in the middle of the old town, fantastic replicas and mosaics made of lemons and oranges await you.
Afterwards you will attend the Lemon Festival. The "Fête du Citron" in Menton is a unique event worldwide and, after the Carnival and the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco, the most important event on the Côte d'Azur. For three weeks, citrus fruits are celebrated lavishly with events, parades and shows - and a full 145 tonnes of real fruit are arranged into elaborate sculptures, which can reach heights of up to 10 metres.
Day 4: Riviera dei Fiori - Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
You will spend 3 nights in a good 3* Hotel (official national rating) on the Italian Riviera dei Fiori. The rooms are comfortably furnished with bath or shower/WC and TV. The name of the hotel will be announced with the travel documents.
