Trip highlights:

  • Christmas city no. 1
  • Nuremberg Castle

Where the Christkind is at home...

During Advent, Nuremberg's Hauptmarkt is transformed into a sea of red-and-white decorated wooden stalls. Around two hundred traders present traditional wares such as the famous Nuremberg Rauschgoldengel (gold-foil angels) or handmade Nuremberg Zwetschgenmännle (plum people), which are made from dried plums.

Trip details

Day 1: Switzerland - Nuremberg

Direct journey to Nuremberg. Arrival at approx. 14:45. Visit the Christmas market in the heart of the city centre. The roughly 200 stallholders decorate their stands with great attention to detail, because since 1981 the city has awarded the "Zwetschgermoh" in gold, silver and bronze for the most beautiful

stalls.

Day 2: Nuremberg

Use the day to do your Christmas shopping. The city centre, with 500 shops set against a historic backdrop, offers a unique shopping atmosphere. Or visit the main sights of Nuremberg's old town. The city wall with its mighty towers and the castle still give a sense of the former prosperity of Nuremberg's merchants, as do the ornate patrician houses.

Day 3: Nuremberg - Switzerland

In the morning you will have another opportunity to stroll through the Christmas market. Departure for the return journey at 12:00.

Shopping in Nuremberg

Shopping in the city centre is a relaxed pleasure. The pedestrian zone, laid out as long ago as 1966, is not only the oldest in Germany but also one of the largest in Europe.
