Pyrenean & Mediterranean Magic

Trip highlights:

  • Andorra – the tiny state of the Pyrenees
  • Dalí Museum in Figueres
  • Coastal villages of the Costa Brava
  • Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona

From the mountains of Andorra via Dalí's art to the wild coast of Catalonia and back

This journey combines two worlds: the rugged mountain scenery of the Pyrenean micro-state of Andorra and the sun-kissed Costa Brava. You will discover medieval villages, the surreal world of Salvador Dalí and vibrant Barcelona. The return journey to Switzerland follows the same route.

Trip details

Day 1: Switzerland - Avignon area

Drive through France to the sunny south. In the Avignon region, the gateway to Provence, you will check in to your hotel for the first night.

Day 2: Avignon area - Andorra

Crossing the highlands of southern France, you reach the Principality of Andorra, nestled between the high peaks of the Pyrenees. In the afternoon there is time to explore the lively capital, Andorra la Vella, and its shopping streets at your leisure.

Day 3: Andorra - the mountains of the Pyrenees

On a panoramic drive you will see Andorra at its most beautiful: deeply cut valleys, Romanesque chapels and flower-decked mountain villages set against a backdrop of peaks nearly 3,000 m high. To finish, you are invited to a tasting of typical herbal liqueurs.

Day 4: Girona - Figueres - Costa Brava

You leave the mountains behind and reach Girona with its dreamy old town, the colourful houses along the River Onyar and the medieval Jewish quarter. In Figueres you step into the fantastic world of Salvador Dalí: the Theatre-Museum he designed himself is his greatest total work of art. You then continue to the Costa Brava.

Day 5: Costa Brava - Palafrugell

A tour takes you to the loveliest places on the "wild coast". You stroll through medieval Pals, see the coastal town of Begur with its castle ruins and discover Palafrugell with its picturesque coves. At lunchtime you will enjoy a traditional paella with sangria.

Day 6: Barcelona

On a guided city tour you will experience the Catalan metropolis of Barcelona: the world-famous Sagrada Família, the Gothic Quarter and the bustling Ramblas. Over a tapas lunch you will sample the city's culinary diversity. Tonight you will stay for another night on the Costa Brava.

Day 7: Costa Brava - Orange area

Today's journey takes you northwards along the coast and through southern France to the Orange area for an overnight stop.
