Journey to Dorfgastein.

Day 2: Top of Austria! - the Grossglockner High Alpine Road

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is one of Austria's most famous landmarks and is considered one of the most beautiful scenic and panoramic roads in the world. Almost seamlessly blending into the mountain landscape, this largely high-alpine road stretches for 48 kilometres, winding bend after bend right into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Right up to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, at the foot of Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner, with the Pasterze, the largest glacier in the Eastern Alps still in existence. Majestic peaks, glaciers, green valleys and forests – a sight that will leave you amazed!

Day 3: Salzburg

Journey to Salzburg. The birthplace of Mozart is famous for its magnificent architecture, its imposing fortress, its romantic little alleyways, its beautiful old town and its charming shops. After a walk through the impressive city centre with your tour guide, you will have time in the afternoon to visit a café or go shopping.

Day 4: Zell am See

(Optional) Today we travel to Zell am See. On a boat trip, you will enjoy views of spectacular mountain panoramas – the Steinernes Meer to the north, the High Tauern to the south, the Zeller Hausberg, the Schmittenhöhe to the west and the town of Zell am See itself. Afterwards, you can explore Zell am See at your own pace. Then we continue to a rustic alpine hut in Rauris, where you will be expertly introduced to the making of schnapps and smoked speck. After an introduction to how schnapps is distilled, liqueurs are infused and speck is smoked, you can sample the schnapps and enjoy a delicious speck and cheese platter.
