Merano - Bolzano - Dolomites
South Tyrol is where two cultures meet, combining the region's most beautiful sights with spectacular scenery. Here you will experience Alpine charm, Mediterranean flair and warm hospitality. Not to be forgotten are the culinary specialities: exquisite wines, delicate cheese and delicious speck.
Day 1: Switzerland - Kurtinig
Journey via the Val Müstair and through the charming landscape of South Tyrol. Arrival in Kurtinig on the Wine Road in the evening.
Day 2: Merano
Today you will explore the historic spa town of Merano. It impresses with its Alpine-Mediterranean atmosphere and urban flair in the centre, between medieval arcades and the grand Belle Époque buildings. You will then visit the magnificent gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. The gardens extend over 12 hectares and are divided into four garden worlds, showcasing plants from around the globe.
Day 3: Montiggl Lakes
(Optional) Explore the Montiggl nature reserve with a local hiking guide on a walk from the Montiggl Lakes to Lake Kaltern. The walk takes approx. 3 hours. The path is level and gently downhill. Free afternoon.
Day 4: Dolomites Round Trip
Today you will enjoy a drive through the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Dolomites, known for their striking rock formations and beautiful passes. The route first leads through the Eggen Valley, a picturesque road to Lake Carezza. This lake is renowned for its idyllic setting and graceful reflections in the water. From there, you continue to Canazei and the Pordoi Pass, then over the Campolongo Pass to Corvara and the Gardena Pass.
Day 5: Bolzano and the Wine Road
Drive to Bolzano and guided city walk. The city is where two cultures meet. In the afternoon, you take the Mendel cable car to the Mendel Pass, where you can enjoy the magnificent view over the Adige Valley. You then drive to the South Tyrolean Wine Road and taste South Tyrolean wines.
Day 6: South Tyrol - Switzerland
Return journey via Schluderns to Switzerland.
You will stay for 5 nights at the converted 4* Hotel Teutschhaus in Kurtinig on the Wine Road. The hotel is centrally located on the village square and is an ideal base for excursions. The rooms are individually designed and spread across the main building and further buildings. All rooms offer a bath or shower/WC, hairdryer, safe, satellite TV and free WiFi. For relaxing hours, there is a spa area with a Finnish sauna, steam sauna, experience showers and a relaxation room. Unheated outdoor swimming pool (seasonal opening times). Equivalent hotel if the booked one is unavailable.
