Immerse yourself in the culinary heart of Spain and enjoy a delicious journey through the north of the country. From a centrally located hotel, you will taste the full-bodied wines of Ribera del Duero and Rioja, be tempted by the pintxos in San Sebastián and savour crispy cochinillo in Segovia. All culinary highlights are included in the price.
Trip details
Day 1: Switzerland – Madrid
Flight to Madrid and a welcome meal together.
Day 2: Madrid
City tour taking in Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Gran Vía. The highlight is a tapas tour through the bars around the Mercado de San Miguel, including sangria or Verdejo.
Day 3: Madrid – Aranda del Duero – Vitoria
Drive north to Ribera del Duero, one of Spain's most renowned wine regions. In Aranda del Duero you will taste the full-bodied Tempranillo wines with a typical lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Vitoria-Gasteiz, the elegant capital of the Basque Country.
Day 4: Bilbao
Excursion to Bilbao with a guided tour of the old town, Casco Viejo. The highlight is admission to the world-famous Guggenheim Museum with its spectacular collection of contemporary art.
Day 5: San Sebastián
Day trip to San Sebastián, the pearl of the Basque Country. On a culinary tour you will discover the old town and the legendary pintxos bars, where you can enjoy small Basque delicacies with a glass of Txakoli, the local white wine.
Day 6: Logroño – La Rioja
City tour of Logroño, the lively capital of La Rioja. Afterwards, visit a winery with a generous tasting of the world-famous Rioja wines.
Day 7: Vitoria – Segovia
Drive to Segovia with a city tour taking in the Roman aqueduct and the fairytale Alcázar. The crowning moment is the cochinillo lunch, the crispy suckling pig.
Day 8: Segovia – Madrid – Switzerland
Return flight from Madrid to Switzerland.
Throughout the journey you will stay in carefully selected 4* hotels (official local rating). In Madrid you will be centrally located at the modern Novotel Center, and in Vitoria at the elegant Silken Ciudad de Vitoria. The finale is the stylish Hotel San Antonio el Real in Segovia, a historic monastery full of charm. Equivalent hotels will be used if the above are unavailable.
