San Siro

San Siro is home to both AC Milan and Inter Milan and one of the best-known stadiums in Europe. Here is what you need to know about its capacity, its history and the two clubs that share it.

  • Capacity and history

The stadium opened in 1926 and today holds around 75,000 spectators. It has been rebuilt and extended several times; its present outline, with the added third tier and the distinctive spiral towers, dates from the 1990 World Cup. That makes it one of the largest football stadiums in Europe.

  • Who plays at San Siro

Both Milan clubs play their home matches in the same stadium, Inter since 1947. For visitors that means the stadium does not decide it, home advantage does. Our trips go to AC Milan home matches; every trip states the opponent and the date.

  • Why the stadium has two names

Its official name since 1980 is Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, after a player who turned out for both Milan clubs during his career. Everyone calls it San Siro, after the district in the west of the city where it stands. Both names mean the same stadium.

  • Serie A match days

Serie A fixture dates are confirmed only a few weeks in advance. As soon as they are, we put the matching trips on offer.
