Trip details

Day 1: Switzerland - Bologna

Journey via the Gotthard route. At Cantine Romagnoli you enjoy your first wine tasting, including lunch. Dinner is taken in a local restaurant in the heart of Bologna. (3 nights at the Royal Hotel Carlton****).

Day 2: Bologna - Umberto Cesari

In the morning a guided walking tour of the city is on the programme. Bologna boasts one of the most beautiful and best-preserved old towns in Europe, with many medieval towers. Kilometres of arcades link pedestrian zones, squares, churches and palaces. Europe's oldest university is based in Bologna. Later you visit the Umberto Cesari winery. High-quality wines such as Sangiovese and typical wines of Emilia-Romagna have been produced here since 1964.

Day 3: Tenuta Zerbina - Faenza

Visit to the Tenuta Zerbina winery. The current owner, Cristina Geminiani, took up farming and graduated with distinction. Since 1999 she has been regularly awarded three glasses in the "Gambero Rosso". It is no exaggeration to speak of Cristina Geminiani as a pioneer. In the afternoon you travel to the charming small town of Faenza. The town is widely known for its artful glazed ceramics.

Day 4: Tenuta Manaresi - Parma

Not far from Bologna lies the Manaresi winery of the Agostoni-Manaresi family. Two grape varieties dominate here: Grechetto gentile – formerly Pignoletto – and Sauvignon blanc. On the way to Parma you visit a balsamic vinegar factory. (2 nights at the Starhotels Du Parc****).

Day 5: Parma

A day to enjoy: on the one hand you see Parma, one of Italy's most beautiful cities, with the Palazzo Pilotta, Teatro Regio, cathedral and baptistery. On the other hand, visits full of culinary highlights await at Parmesan and Parma ham producers. "Buon appetito!" Dinner at a well-known Michelin restaurant in the heart of Parma's old town.
